How to close all positions at once in MT5 and MT4

Updated 13 October 2026

With several positions open, closing them one by one is slow — and in a fast move every second costs money. Here is what MetaTrader can do itself and how to close everything in one action.

MetaTrader 5: bulk operations

In desktop MT5: right-click in the Trade tab → Bulk Operations. You can close all positions, only winners or only losers, all buys or sells, everything on one symbol, and delete pending orders. Mobile MT5 has bulk operations too, in the positions menu.

A bulk close sends a separate order for each position. In a fast market they fill at different prices — that is normal.

MetaTrader 4: no such button

MT4 has no built-in “close all”: positions close one at a time (double-click → Close). The workaround is a script or EA that closes everything on command.

Netting accounts and FIFO

On an MT5 netting account there is one position per symbol, so closing it closes everything on that symbol. At FIFO brokers positions must be closed oldest first; a bulk close accounts for that, closing by hand does not.

Close everything at a set profit or loss

A common need: “close all trades when total profit reaches $200” or “when the total loss hits $100”. MetaTrader has nothing for this — you need an EA that watches the combined result.

How TradeDeck does it

To close part of a position rather than everything, see partial close.
