How to manage MT5 trades from your phone: terminal on a VPS, panel in your pocket
Updated 13 October 2026
The MetaTrader mobile app can open and close trades, but expert advisors do not run in it. If you trade with a panel or an EA, it is easier to keep the terminal on a VPS and control it from your phone.
What mobile MetaTrader does — and does not
The MetaTrader 5 and 4 apps for iPhone and Android show charts, open and close trades and set stops and targets. But expert advisors, scripts and custom indicators do not run on the phone: risk-based lot sizing, trailing, hidden levels and auto breakeven stay in the desktop terminal.
Why a VPS
A VPS is a computer on the internet that runs around the clock. You run the terminal with your EA there, so trailing, breakeven, partial closes and hidden stops keep working while your own computer is off. Any inexpensive Windows VPS will do; some brokers offer their own.
Control from the phone
To control the terminal with its EA — not just the account — you need a link between the phone and the terminal. That is how the TradeDeck app works: the terminal with the panel runs at home or on a VPS, and on your phone you:
- see the account, positions and a chart with lines;
- open trades with the lot sized to your risk — the same math as in the terminal;
- move the stop and target, set breakeven, close 25–75% or the whole position;
- get push notifications: opens, closes, stop moves, news.
No trading account password is needed: the phone is linked with a one-time code from the panel. The app opens in the browser and sits on the home screen as an icon — no App Store or Google Play.
If the terminal is off, the app says so and does not send the trade. Regular stops and targets at the broker keep working as usual.
